Currently, the need for the sustainable development is being raised all over the world, the social rold of the university is being required.
It is time for university studetns who have the power to lead the future and who have the strength as a practicing body to lead the sustainablility of our society.
The Green Campus Council of Gyeonggi-do is conducting a public project to train environmental clubs every year in order to support those efforts.

Project Overview

Eligibility and Application

  • Eligibles: Any university student club in Gyeonggi-do
    1. We welcome the following clubs!
    2. - Clubs interested in sustainable development (social development, environmental conservation, economic growth, peace, etc.)
    3. - Clubs that want to practice the Green Campus
  • Numbers: Within 0 or more
    1. ※ Entry Restrictions: Clubs that are supported by the government, local governments, or other foundations in the same business field may be excluded.
  • Amount of Support: Total amount 10 million KRW (1 million ~ 2 million KRW per club)
    1. ※ It can be adjusted according to the total project cost and business plan contents .

Activities (Please refer to activity examples for details)

    1. A. In-school activities and community-based activities for responding to climate change and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
      (Excluding one-off projects such as events, hardware business such as LED lamp replacement)
    2. B. Activities for Sustainable Development in relation to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
    3. C. Business that can present continuity of goal with continuous activities
      Example) Continuously monitor the results of activities and use the monitoring data in discussions between school members and in the process of university policies
    4. D. The higher the score gets if the business is linked to the policies of the university.
      Example) When submitting a report, decide to use university policy as using reusable paper, and offer the policy to other students.
      Open in-school meeting and seminars to greates green curriculum.
    5. E. Present business plan with open topic including common essential tasks

Activity Benefits

  • When selected as best practice club, will be awarded with Gyeonggi-do Government Award, Gyeonggi-do Green Campus Council Award
  • Issuance of Activity Certification to all the clubs participated
  • Volunteer time given
  • Prior chance to participate to other Countil activities
  • Green Follow (joining Gyeonggi-do Green Campus University Student Council)

Examples of Activities (Possible to use examples of activities suggested)

    1. A. Greenhouse Gas Reduction Action Plan through Establishment and Operation of Eco-Friendly School Facilities in University
      - Riding bicycle to school, carpool system, school bus plans, etc.
    2. B. Establishment and operation of facilities for reducing food waste or recycling in university
      - Residual treatment plan or recycling plan etc.
    3. C. Plan to reduce energy consumption of buildings in university buildings
      - Turning off the lights of unused classroom campaign, installation of electronic product standby power breaker, installation of conservator in restroom and dormitory etc. (Do not use hardware contents such as maintenance of facilities)
    4. D. Activity plan such as prevention of resource waste and promotion of recycling in university festivals and other events
      - Disposable product saving campaign and paper cup retrieve equipmentinstallation etc.
    5. E. Action plans on promoting eco-friendly products and recycling products at university
      - Establishing the basis for practical activities to promote using eco-friendly paper or reuasable paper for reports
    6. F. Activity plans to preserve ecosystem (rivers, wetlands, parks, etc.) in or around the university
      - Plans for residents’ use of river and forest protection and restoration activities and facilities
    7. G. Activation of local food utilization through organic cultivation
      - Project plan using the unused areas in the university to directly grow vegetables and use them in the cafeteria, and use this as a place of education, the business plan to remind university students the importance of local food
    8. H. Visiting Local Children for Education
      - Students regularly conduct environmental education or environmental experience program for children in the neighborhoods where each university is located, playing as a role of community leader, teaching the importance and value of the environment to future generations.
    9. I. Planning Activities that Community Members can participate- Practicing university activitiesas an important basis of the regional community, such as agenda 21 and neighborhood of the university, together organizing festivals such as “Parking Day”, campaign to create clean community, mural painting, etc
    10. J. Present projects that suit other university situations
